PSU –"REACH-RS" Summer 2006 Program
CNCMM plans on inviting talented high school seniors, juniors and teachers to participate in two 2-weeks-long workshops the "REACH-RS" program(the Research and Education Academy for Coaching & Mentoring of High School-Rising Stars). During the summer 2006semester; the first workshop will be in June (05 – 16) and the second will be in July (10 –21). Space for the workshops is limited; only 12th and 11th graders and teachers are eligible to apply and participate. Interested and prospective participants are highly encouraged to send in their applications as soon as possible. Potential benefits from the workshop include: i. preview and introduction to college, ii. improvement of communication and inter-personal skills, iii. acquisition of technical proficiency in the areas of materials and processing, iv. development of simple, cost-effective laboratory experiments (teachers), v. enhancement of research and development skills, and vi. development of entrepreneurial skills. Participants will be given certificates of participation at the end of the program. For more information, please visit the REU/RET program web site at http://www.pittstate.edu/reuret.

CNCMM Injection Molding Nanotechnology Workshop
The CNCMM Injectional Molding Nanotechnology Workshop was held at the Kansas Technology Center on September 13-14. Jim Wenskus was the key instructor. Wenskus retired from Eastman Kodak Company as a Senior Engineer, where he was engaged in injection molding Research and Development and instruction for over 33 years. He holds a number of U.S. and foreign patents in various aspects of injection molding and has authored several papers on injection molding processing. He holds a degree in chemistry from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Wenskus covered three modules, those are 1. Basic Machine Operations; 2. The Injection Molding Process; and 3. Disciplined Process Strategis. Dr. Andrey Beyle, CNCMM senior research faculty presented the fourth module, which is "Plastic Nanocomposites" after Wenskus. This workshop also included numerous lab activities, which allowed participants to gain their particle lab experiences.
