Advising Center
The College of Business Advising Center, located in room 102 of Kelce Hall, provides advice on class scheduling to all business students at the freshmen and sophomore levels. ADMISSION TO COLLEGE OF BUSINESS
Admission to the College of Business is required for courses numbered 400 and above.
Specific requirements for admission to the College of Business include the following:
- Completion of 42 semester hours applicable to the degree that the student is seeking
- Completion of the following courses with a grade of "C" or better:
-English Composition 101
-College Algebra 113
- Obtained cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on all hours attempted (at Pittsburg State University and/or other institutions)
Residency requirement: A student must complete at least 24 hours of business courses after the student has been admitted to the College of Business.
Also, at least 50 percent of the business credit hours (e.g. from areas of accounting, marketing, management, computer science, information systems, economics, and finance) that are required for the Bachelor of Business Administration degree must be earned at Pittsburg State University.
PREREQUISITES TO UPPER-DIVISION COLLEGE COURSES
In addition to the admission requirements stated above, upper-division business courses (numbered 300 and above) typically require that a student have junior standing (55 completed hours) prior to enrolling in such courses. Several courses normally taken during the freshman or sophomore year are prerequisite courses.
Lower-division courses in which a grade of "C" or better must be earned as a prerequisite to selected upper-division business courses are Elementary Statistics (MATH 143) and Computer Information Systems (CSIS 130).
