NOW OPEN

The University Recycling Center located in 106 Whitesitt Hall is now open to the campus community!


Committee Charge/Membership

Consideration but not limited to:

  • Status Update of Current PSU Initiatives
    • Identify Users/Uses
    • Identify Practices on Campus
  • Best Practices of Other Universities and Other Organizations
    • Review practices of other Regents Institutions
    • Review practices of other Universities
    • Review practices of other organizations
  • Website Development
    • Create a site to Communicate all Activities of the Task Force
  • Initial Resource Impact Determination
    • Prepare an initial report on how actions will impact current resources
      • Time, Money & Personnel
  • Initial Target Areas
    • Determine an implementation or timeline to address various target areas
      • Dining Hall, Retail and Catering Foodservice, Gorilla Bookstore, General Offices, Residence Halls, etc.
  • Product Selection Areas
    • Determine an implementation and/or timeline to address recycling of materials.
      • Plastic, Aluminum, Paper, Glass, etc.

Concluding Remarks:
The work of this committee is extremely important not only to the university but to our community. As the committee completes its work there will be discussions and actions which will benefit the university and community not only today but for years to come.

The initial report is to be delivered to the Office of the President by April 15, 2007.

  4. Establish the practice of energy and resource conservation in individuals as a personal way of life.

. Deliverables:

The committee will provide a formal written report on committee work and actions each spring with regards to the following:
  1. Best Practices Review on energy and resource conservation.
  2. Identify strategies that will achieve and maintain the highest level of energy efficiency, promote resource conservation, and reduce costs.
  3. Establish various sub-committees and actions to address energy and resource conservation.
  4. Educate and involve employees, students and the community in general in energy and resource conservation to gain commitment and support.
  5. Identify funding sources to assist in implementing energy efficiency measures.
  6. Investigate and identify alternative energy resources.
  7. Plan for energy alerts and outages and determine potential impact on university operations.
