Filling Classified Temporary Positions

Employees with classified temporary appointments can work no more than 999 hours in a 12-month period starting the first day of the appointment. If an employee is appointed to more than one classified temporary position, the 12-month period starts with the first appointment and includes hours worked from all classified temporary positions.
To fill a temporary position, the supervisor must complete a Classified Appointment Form (Temporary Position) and route for signatures. You will also need to check with HRS for appropriate classification of the position. HRS will notify the department of the approved appointment by sending the department a copy of the approved form.
