Study Abroad Programs

Financial Aid And Scholarship Information

  • PSU Travel Grants

  • PSU maintains a limited fund to assist current full-time PSU students for participation in our study abroad programs.

    • If you are going on a PSU sponsored group study program your faculty sponsor will apply for the group. Make sure you are communicating with your faculty sponsor about your need.

    • If you are going on an individual study abroad program use the application form to apply and submit it to the Study Abroad Coordinator in International Programs office at 118 Whitesitt Hall. This application is due by October 1st for Spring study abroad and March 1st for Summer and Fall study abroad.

    Kansas Board of Regents Fellowship Fund

  • James B. Pearson Fellowship Fund: Fellowship for Kansas residents in an accredited graduate program at a Kansas college or university in a field related to foreign affairs.

  • U.S. Government Scholarships

  • Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarships

    A government funded program that aids students in financial need for study abroad.

  • Fulbright Student Program

    The program is designed for graduating seniors in any academic field. It is also intended for graduate students working on a Master's degree or a Ph.D. Grants are from six to 12 months with opportunities to study in all parts of the world.

  • Boren Award

    Boren Awards provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students to add an important international and language component to their educations.

    To get an application or ask questions contact the International Programs Office ext. 4221.

  • The Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals is a full year scholarship program in Germany sponsored by the U.S. Congress and the German Bundestag.

  • Freeman Awards for Study in Asia is a program for students studying abroad in East Asia.
  • George J. Mitchell Scholarship: The Mitchell Scholarship is a highly competitive national fellowship awarded to 12 US college graduates annually for a year of postgraduate study on the island of Ireland, both in the Republic and in Northern Ireland.
  • Bridging Scholarship for Japan to assist students to study in Japan for students participating in semester- or year-long study-abroad programs in Japan in Spring 2008.
  • UNESCO Laura W. Bush Traveling Fellowship for funding for a short term projects in a foreign country related to the mandate of UNESCO- using education, natural sciences, social and human sciences, culture, and/or communication and information to build strong ties among nations.

     

  • Privately funded scholarships

  • IIE programs -- IIE has a funding search that searches scholarships, grants, and fellowships specific to your study abroad experience

    • Pearson Fellowship -- a Kansas Board of Regents program for graduate study abroad. Information may be obtained from the Office of International Programs and Services at 118 Whitesitt Hall.

    • DAAD has some scholarships for programs in Germany. As part of DAAD, there is a specific scholarship program through DAAD called RISE for science and engineering students interested in doing research with German PhD students.


    • The Rotary Foundation issues grants regionally to students who are affiliated or sponsored by a rotary member or chapter.


    • The Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society has a scholarship program specific to study abroad.
    • The Frank Huntington Beebe Fund for Musicians is a fellowship opportunity for young musicians who wish to pursue advanced music study and performance abroad.
    • Members of Sigma Tau Delta: The International English Honor Society may be eligible for several scholarship opportunities through the honor society.
    • Kansas Paraguay Partners Special Merit Scholarship Fund:
      One scholarship of $1,200 is available for the 2009-10 academic year.  The Special Merit Scholarship is available to students enrolled at any Kansas college or University that offers Paraguayan students instate tuition.
