Career & Technical Education Programs

The Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs at Pittsburg State University (PSU) provide quality opportunities in the development and growth of competent CTE teachers through a variety of options. Students can select a certificate, two-year degree, four-year degree or a graduate level degree to expand their teaching options and professional advancement.

Program Overview

Collaboration between the CTE programs at PSU provides a variety of pathways for students to enter or expand in the teaching profession in Career and Technical Education areas. The Technical Teacher Education (TTED) emphasis is delivered in a 100% online format and provides individuals with work experience and prior learning a path to developing teaching skills. Selecting a certificate, associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree in the TTED emphasis provides an alternative path to teaching with flexibility. The Technology and Engineering (TEE) emphasis is delivered on campus and provides new high school graduates and transfer students a pre-service teaching option including a professional student teaching semester. At the graduate level, the Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) program offers a masters degree to students with an undergraduate degree in FCS education.
