In its landmark study, The Future of Nursing, the Institute of Medicine found that nurses needed to be able to take on more responsible positions. To do that, the number of nurses educated at the doctoral level (currently less than 1 percent) needs to double by the year 2020.
The prestigious Irene Ransom Bradley School of Nursing at Pittsburg State University is helping the nation meet this goal through its Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program, an advanced practice graduate nursing degree offering the highest level of preparation for nursing practice. The DNP program offers the major, Advanced Practice Nursing, with opportunity for specialization in the advanced practice role. Students are trained as Family Nurse Practitioners in the BSN-DNP program. Advanced Practice Nurses who are educated at the MSN level may enter the MSN-DNP program.
An emphasis in nursing education will be an elective option for those who may want to teach in a School of Nursing or serve as a Nurse Educator in a healthcare facility.
Our MSN to DNP program is the perfect choice for advanced healthcare professionals with a career focus of leadership at the bedside and in the boardroom. Reach the pinnacle of the nursing profession and earn a DNP.
