If you’ve ever wanted to combine your passion for teaching or leadership with your clinical knowledge, this is the program for you! Available with completely online didactic courses, the Master of Science in Nursing with an Emphasis in Educational Leadership or Organizational Leadership offers nurses the skills and credentials necessary to effectively transfer their clinical experience into a rewarding career as a nurse leader in education or organizational settings. This MSN program prepares the graduate for the leadership role with theory, clinical practice, and supervised experiences to promote innovative critical thinking along with enhanced leadership skills.

Pittsburg State’s 36-37 credit hour MSN program is designed for the hectic work schedule of today’s healthcare professional. Available with didactic courses completely online, it provides students with an immersive experience, allowing them to focus on a specific population, disease process or healthcare disparity.
Graduates of the Educational Leadership Emphasis will be eligible to sit for the Nurse Educator Certification Examination, administered by the National League for Nursing’s Academic Nurse Education Certification Program. By becoming credentialed as a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE), you serve as a leader and a role model.
Admission to Pitt State’s MSN program is based on both admission requirements and resource availability. Spaces are quickly filled so applicants should apply as early as possible. The application deadline for first consideration for both summer and fall programs is March 15. Candidates wishing to start their programs of study in the spring should apply before October 15. Late applications will be considered on a space available basis.
In addition to laying the groundwork for doctoral study, the MSN program also qualifies students for many advanced nursing roles, including:
- Nurse Educator in a health care facility
- Nurse Educator as a faculty member in a community college or four-year institution
- Organizational Nurse Leader within health care facilities
- Administrative Nurse Leaders in government agencies, community projects, or health care facilities.
Applications to begin your program in the Summer or Fall semester must be received by 4:30 p.m. on March 15. Late applications will be considered on a space available basis.
