The minor is made up of 21 undergraduate credit hours. There is a six credit hour core consisting of Foundations of Leadership, Service Learning Seminar, and Leadership Seminar. Working with the Leadership Studies advisor, students will map out 15 additional hours from a list of approved courses dealing with leadership issues. These 15 hours come from all four academic colleges, Arts and Sciences, Education, Kelce College of Business, and Technology.

LDSP 601 is a Service Learning Seminar. It includes a 15-hour fieldwork experience designed by the student and approved by the professor.

The department offers Alternative Teaching Licensure programs in Special Education and Secondary Education. Certificates that lead to an endorsement to a teaching license in a variety of educational areas are available.
